Microgrids offer a solution to climate change by offering local clean power for electrification and reliable energy access for communities.

Abstract:

Microgrids can offer clean, resilient local power. In remote locations they reduce wildfire risk while increasing energy access and reliability. To cost effectively manage multiple systems, we will present a technology agnostic cloud based platform that enables remote troubleshooting and reduces costs, especially in hybrid systems. Case studies of current systems in the Sierra foothills, Puerto Rico, downtown San Jose, CA and Guatemala will be presented.  Microgrids are being considered for augmenting power and managing supply where distribution lines are maxed out or non-existent to meet electrification needs for EVs.
